Reach Back in Time

The River Cleddau flows through south Pembrokeshire, connecting people, places and communities. For generations, its waters have shaped how people lived, worked and travelled.

Inspired by the river and its history, residents of Kensington Court worked with artist Janet Raven Taylor to create this shared textile artwork. Each person created their own section, adding places, wildlife, buildings and other details that mattered to them.

“Each of us contributed something: towers, boats, bridges, animals… Everyone had a role, no matter their skill level.”

Joined together, their individual pieces create a map of the Cleddau and the communities along its banks. Nature sits alongside industry, reflecting a landscape shaped by both people and the natural world.

Like the patchwork itself, many individual contributions came together to create something greater than one person could make alone.
