Our Wales Is Creative (Mural)
In Beddau, people explored how nature is returning to a landscape once shaped by industry.
Working with Buglife Cymru, the group discovered how the former Cwm Colliery and Coke Works has become home to a surprising variety of wildlife – including butterflies, bees, beetles and the ‘Beddau Beast’, a tiny white millipede found in very few places in the world.
Inspired by what they discovered, the group created this mural. The silhouette of the old coke works is surrounded by flowers, butterflies and insects, showing nature flourishing alongside Beddau’s industrial past.
The mural celebrates a changing landscape and the wildlife, history and creativity that make it special.
