Dwynwen the Dragon

Working with artist Niki Fogaty, the group transformed a four-metre-long Butetown carnival dragon. They printed new scales with images showing what being Welsh and living in Wales means to them – including home, family, nature and music.

The dragon was named Dwynwen, after the Welsh patron saint of love. Carried by the group, she took centre stage at their community showcase at Wales Millennium Centre.

Dwynwen transforms a familiar Welsh symbol into a colourful celebration of creativity, identity and community. It takes many people working together to bring her to life.
